The song "Single Ladies" of R&B star Beyonce has overtaken “Poker face” of Lady Gaga and “You belong with me” of Taylor Swift to be the song of year at Grammy 2010 taking place at Staples Center stadium, Los Angeles on Jan 31.

 

It was the big night for Beyonce who received 6 golden Grammy statues. Besides song of year, wife of famous rapper Jay-Z owned other prizes including best R&B album for "I am... Sasha Fierce", best traditional R&B vocal performance for "At last", best R&B female singer with the hit "Single ladies" (put a ring on it) which also achieved best R&B song and best R&B singer.

At the Grammy this year, young talented country singer Taylor Swift who was nominated with eight trophies just behind Beyonce with ten nods won the best country song for White Horse and best female country vocal and the best country album and especially album of the year. The 20 year old singer said that it was her first Grammy and it was really meaningful to her.

The record of the year at this Grammy belonged to “Use Somebody” of the Kings of Leon's The Zac Brown Band won the best new artist while Green Day with “21st Century Breakdown” take best rock album. Three trophies from the pre-telecast went to The Black Eyed Peas. Maxell won two Grammys including best R&B male vocal for the ballad "Pretty Wings" and best R&B album for "BLACKsummers' night." Besides, Jay-Z and Emimem also won double prizes.

 

The Grammy has been taking place at Staples Centre stadium which held the farewell concert to king of Pop Michael Jackson. Lady GaGa opened the Award night with her “Poker Face” performance and then sang “Speechless” together with Elton John. The show also displayed a 3D tribute to Michael Jackson in which Usher, Carrie Underwood, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Smokey Robinson sang his hit “Earth Song.”
