Lopez did this while doing the monolog for Lopez Tonight - a late-night television talk show hosted by an Mexican American comedian George Lopez mostly known for starring in his self-produced ABC sitcom George Lopez.
Fans were expecting the appearance of George Lopez on the stage. Unexpectedly, the music began and Jennifer Lopez, an American actress, singer, record producer, and television producer appeared, cracking late-night jokes. Certainly, the first funny story was a dig at the situation going on over NBC. This first joke received a few laughs when Jennifer Lopez implied that she with pride of being a bigger star was taking over George Lopez. The audience liked it as she had a good way to lead in a joke about Sarah Palin.
However, the first joke was just an opening. The heart of the joke about Sarah Palin by Jennifer Lopez was that she was only one of top crazy person working over at Fox News. Jennifer Lopez said that Palin experienced much as she was just the 5th or 6th craziest person around. To the audience, it was not only funny but also a bad joke. Even, she exploited a negative Spanish connotation to indicate the way of her feeling about Sarah Palin and a little bit her politics.
The consequence of this story is that some audience quit watching Lopez Tonight and went up in arms about the jokes. Presently, Lopez seems to be in hot water from Palin supporters' unwillingness about her joke. By chance, it is one thing for possible comment in an open forum or in a political juncture. However, in the context of a late night sketch, the joke that Jennifer Lopez gave her opinion about the ex-Governor from Alaska is not a joke. This had much tact behind it. Thus, Ms. Lopez is seemingly suffering from backlash from Palin supporters.
